Welcome to the cyber ethics hackathon
Thanks for joining us today!
Today is not about you listening to a long lecture. It’s not about finding the right answer to a problem someone else came up with.
Today is about YOUR ideas and YOUR voice. You’ll use your creativity to identify and solve a real cyber problem affecting you and your community.
Before you go to the next page, let’s make sure you have the following:
All your teammates are signed onto your private team link and ready to go
Your parent or guardian has completed all the required paperwork from Kigumi Group
Optional: a teacher or parent is signed on to help you throughout the activity
Then scroll down to see a summary of what you’re going to do today and press the button after that to proceed to the next step.
Summary of Hackathon steps
Step 1
Craft your problem statement.
Step 2
Discuss with your team and decide what form your “solution” will take. Is it a single 3-5 min informational video describing the problem and raising awareness of the issue? Is it a series of shorter videos (TikTok style) that gives well-thought out, ethical solutions to the problem? Is it a Powerpoint-style training that you can give to your school counsellor to use?
Step 3
Decide on how your team is going to manage this project and roles & responsibilities.
Step 4
Draft a timeline for checking in with each other and work on that timeline. Reach out to your parent, designated teacher or info@kigumigroup.com with questions during this time.
Step 5 (optional)
You can choose to submit your project to be reviewed by Kigumi Group’s advisory panel of computer science professors and digital literacy experts to earn a Hackathon badge for your academic portfolio.
